Emotional Wellbeing
Hi to all pupils, parents and carer
At Beechwood as always, everyone wellbeing is always a high priority. This year we are embarking with a new scheme of work to help pupils to have a greater understanding of why they react the ways they do. The programme will run for pupils from year 1 to year 6 and is called “My Happy Mind”. The pupils will learn all about the different parts of the brain and how they control the different responses that they have. These sessions will run in the classrooms with some assemblies linked to it too.
Small groups of pupils from year 1 to year 4 are also going to be taking part in extra sessions outside of the classroom time linked to the “My Happy Mind” programme. These sessions will be run by Mrs Hargreaves and Mrs Dunn.
If anyone would like to find out more about “My Happy Mind” please feel free to contact us or have a look at the link. www.myhappymind.org
This year Mrs Hargreaves will be continuing working with pupils and families with any concerns and worries linked to emotional wellbeing. She will be able to helping to sign post parents onto services that can also offer help and support where needed. If need Mrs Hargreaves can also get support for pupils from the Mental Health Support Team that is linked to the school.
Mrs Dunn is going to be working alongside Mrs Hargreaves to deliver some new sessions helps pupils to explore their emotional wellbeing.
Gemma Bracegirdle has also joined Beechwood this year as the school counsellor for 2 days a week. She will be working with pupils on a 1:1 basis and these referrals will come via the class teacher and Miss Geary.
If any parents or carers have any concerns linked to the child’s emotional wellbeing, please feel free to contact myself via dojo or pop into the office and ask for a member of the team.
