Our class book over the next few weeks will be the book 'Fee Fi Fo Fum' which is a mixed up fairy tale. The main character is the wolf and we follow him as he tries to snack on Little Red Riding Hood before he gets chased away by a woodcutter. He then finds Jack and follows him up a very tall beanstalk. We will be learning the story through drama, role play and freeze frame and even creating our own setting of the story.

We will then be looking at changing the story and writing our own narrative. A big focus will be starting sentences in different ways to make our writing more exciting and using different punctuation! Keep your eyes peeled for some of the fantastic work that we produce during this unit of work.

A big focus this half term will be on handwriting and ensuring that we use cursive, neat handwriting.

Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar

Another focus will be spelling, punctuation and grammar where we will be looking at different word types, identifying them within sentences and understanding how to use different punctuation.

Spellings will be set weekly and will be tested on Thursday with new spellings sent out on Friday. Please make sure you are learning these at home and applying them when writing.

Don't forget to have a look at www.spellingcity.com to help you with your weekly spellings!
