English
So far this year, we have read:
Spring Term 2:
Our text this helf-term is The Errand, written and illustrated by Leo LaFleur and Adam Oehlers. We will be using the atmosphere and ideas in this book to create our own cliff-hanger narratives and a set of detailed instructions for delivery personnel!
To tie in with our topic of the Anglo Saxons, we will read Michael Morpurgo's translation of Beowulf.
Spellings will be given out each Friday and tested the followingFriday. Please ensure your child practices these as correct spelling in written work allows children to focus on other aspects of their learning.
Reading
It is a requirement that your child reads a minimum of three times per week. Reading diaries will be checked every day and the total number of reads checked each Wednesday, giving you and your child the opportunity to read from Wednesday evening through to the following Tuesday evening. Children who have not read and had their reading diaries signed will attend 'reading catch-up' during following lunchtimes. This is not a punishment, but an opportunity to build the fluency in reading that is so important.
