History - The Romans
Who were the Romans and what did we learn from them?
Year 4 will learn about the Roman Empire and its impact on Britain at the time and the legacy it left us. We will be asking a range of questions about artefacts and deducing what they tell us about daily Roman life. We will be learning about the life of a Roman soldier, understand the types of weapons and armour a soldier might use or wear. By exploring military strategies, we will gain insight into why the Romans were so successful at battles.
Alongside our trip to Chester, we will be learning about significant individuals during the Roman rule in Britain. Boudica and her resistance to the Roman invasion will be explored and how she has been portrayed differently in history. Throughout our learning, we will be using our writing skills to present our findings by writing diary entries, leaflets and fact files.
