Maths Problem Solving Day

Pupils from Reception to Year 6 have taken part in ‘Maths Problem Solving Day’. It was a day created to give pupils the opportunity to develop their maths skills further through creative, active and engaging maths lessons. The aim of the day was to ensure that every pupil had fun and found enjoyment in different aspects of maths.

The day also gave year six pupils the chance to become ‘mini’ teachers by helping members of staff set up and deliver a wide range of maths activities. A year 6 child stated that it has made her think about becoming a teacher when she’s older because she loved teaching the children in year one.

These are some quotes from the children on the day:

“It was exciting! I love school even more now,” Tom, year one.

“I loved being challenged, especially when we used fractions to make music,” Jessica, year five.

“This is the best maths challenge,” Dylan, reception.

“I loved that we were doing maths at the same time as having fun,” Josh, year five.

“It’s been really exciting to try new things,” Casey, year two.
