PEEP Week 1 - It's all in a name!

Week 1 - It's all in a name, exploring how a child's name/nickname can improve self-esteem if used postively.

We started the group by talking about our names, and our children's names and how they were decided upon. We had names that came from relatives, children names after birthstones, and children whose names were chosen by sliblings. We enoyed finding out about each other's names. We explored how important a name was to a child, and how you can promote a name positively through stories, objects etc.

We then spoke about the negative effect nicknames can have, and Mrs Lewis and Mrs Metcalfe shared he nicknames they had at school, which ironically came from the same langauge teacher 20 years apart.

The children then joined us for story time and rhyme time all centred around names. We did too much talking and over ran so our acivities had to go home. I cannot wait to see your place mats and create your name magnets.

Here are some of the photographs for you to enjoy from our first session.
