Reading in the Early Years

Reading in the Early Years

This year our focus is to share our love of reading. Igniting a love of reading will enable your child to achieve in all aspects of their learning. It will allow them to create and explore their imagination, as well as promoting wonder of the world around them.

We encourage you to share the love of reading at home with your child. You may want to share stories, poems, magazines, newspapers and environmental print. Environmental print is one of the key aspects to early reading and the great thing is that it is everywhere, whether you are walking to school or taking a trip to the shops it is all around us.

Please visit 'Story Story Focus' page to find out which story or nursery rhyme we are looking at in Nursery, as well as focus question that we will be exploring. Our top five stories are also listed on 'Our Learning this Half Term' page, here you can see the different story we will be focusing on this half term.

Nursery Rhymes are also key in your child's learning, phonics and ready. Please explore the nursery rhymes on the videos below to help your child in their learning journey.
