Nursery 2025 - 2026
Welcome to the Nursery!
Hello from all of us here in Nursery. We have a new team this year and are very excited to meet lots of new smiles and faces.
Meet our Keyworkers
The key workers in the Preschool room are:
- Miss Stanley (Nursery Manager and Hooty Owls Key Worker)
- Miss Stokoe (Smiley Squirrels Key Worker)
- Mrs Lightfoot / Miss Lyons (Happy Hedgehogs Key Worker).
Preschool are also supported by Mrs Cornes our Wellbeing Assistant and Miss Arrowsmith our SEN Support Worker.
The key workers in the Baby Bunnies room are:
- Miss Vernon
- Mrs Dunn
In Nursery, we follow a planned curriculum alongside following the interests of the children. We work hard to provide rich and engaging opportunities to allow the children to learn and explore through play. We have lots of different areas of learning both in our indoor and outdoor classrooms.
The Nursery Day
- Morning Session begins at 8.45am and ends at 11.45am.
- Lunch begins at 11.45am and ends at 12.30pm. This is only available for our 'all day' children.
- Afternoon Session begins at 12.30pm and ends at 3.30pm
All nursery children will be allocated their own peg (with their photograph on) to hang up their belongings. We aim to build and improve all children's confidence and independence at nursery and ask that once they have been welcomed into the building by staff members the children will independently place their own items onto their peg. Staff will then encourage children to come and choose an activity to complete whilst everyone is settling into the nursery morning.
Snack Time
We have 2 'Snack Times' during the nursery day. 1 in the morning and 1 in the afternoon.
Children are welcome to bring their own choice of snack from home (this must be a healthy choice of snack and must not contain nuts). Alternatively you can purchase weekly snack for your child from nursery at £1.50 per week - this includes 1 snack per day. Or £3.00 per week if your child is fulltime and would like 2 snacks per day for the week.
School snack consists of a healthy snack of either toast, bagel, crumpet, cheese and crackers and yogurts, as well as a piece of fruit and a choice of milk or water.
School Uniform
Your child is advised to wear the correct Beechwood uniform each day to prepare them for Reception.
This includes a white polo t-shirt, a red jumper, grey/black trousers or a grey/black skirt with black/grey tights and black school shoes.
Please label all of your child's clothes.
Within the nursery provision the children have access to water play and lots of creative activities, which means we often get messy! For this reason we ask that you to send your child with clean, spare clothes.
Forest School and P.E.
All Preschool children will have one Forest school session and one PE session a week. We kindly ask that your child is dressed appropriately for these sessions and that we have a pair of wellies for your child at nursery for Forest school sessions.
Forest school sessions will take place every Monday for all Preschool children 25/26.
Dojo and E-Safety
As a school, we use an app called 'Class Dojo' to reward children's behaviour in school, to keep parents up to date with class news and to contact parents through a private message service. As a parent, you will receive a login from your child's key worker. Once you have logged in, you will receive notifications and news posts.
As a school, we take safeguarding very seriously. This includes online safety and we are very aware that many children enjoy playing on tablets, phones and even Alexa!
Please help us to ensure your children are safe when online by clicking on the link below and keeping up to date with tips and ideas on internet safety:
