Safeguarding Council

The school's Safeguarding Council is made up by pupils from Years 3 to 6. Safeguarding is very important to us at Beechwood and the team meet each half term to discuss any issues and concerns that they may have.

Their responsibilities cover lots of different areas and include:

  • Water safety
  • Online safety
  • Grounds risk assessments
  • Railway safety, and
  • Stranger danger.

The Safeguarding Council's role is to:

  • listen to the ideas, opinions and suggestions of their peers;
  • help children to follow our school rules, making sure everyone stays safe;
  • share our views with Staff, Governors, Parents and other agencies;
  • make sure visitors are safe in the school and wear the correct coloured lanyard;
  • be involved in safety days, for example road safety and internet safety days at school.

The Year 6 pupils will also be working closely with the local PCSO to act as a voice for the school and the local community. Attendance monitors sit withing the safeguarding council and have an important role in ensuring that children attend school daily and on time.

The Safeguarding Council is supported by Miss Hart - Deputy Designated Safeguard Lead.
