At Beechwood, attendance plays an important role for all of our pupils and staff. We aim for all pupils to achieve at least 96% attendance each week.

During the academic year (2016-2017) our school attendance was 95%.

See the table below for our comparison over the last 3 years.

Attendance Comparison

Target 2017/2018

% Attendance

Throughout the year pupils can achieve different rewards for good attendance and punctuality.

Here are some of the ways we record and reward this.

ATTENDANCE - Every week, during the key stage assemblies, each class finds out what their whole class attendance figure is. The  class with the highest percentage in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 gets to look after the attendance bear for the next week.

At the end of every half term, every pupil across the whole school who has 96% attendance or above has their name put into a prize draw. Pupils can win all sorts of family passes. Some of the family passes that have been won in the past have been: family roller skating, family bowling, year family rail pass and family pantomime tickets.

Pupils who manage 1 term with 100% attendance receive a bronze pin badge and a special afternoon tea.

Pupil who manage 2 terms with 100% attendance receive a silver pin badge and a special activity afternoon.

Pupils who manage 100% attendance over a whole academic year, which we know as a school is very hard to achieve, receive a special gold pin badge, a certificate and lots of prizes for day trips out during the summer holidays.

Their parents and carers are invited to a special assembly where they receive a bouquet of flowers.

Attendance Thermometer

At the front of school there is an attendance thermometer.  Each class has their attendance shown on the thermometer. This is updated weekly by the attendance monitors. This years monitors are Ruby Tootle and Kelsey Dwyer.  During the year, the attendance monitors will be running special competition linked to attendance and punctuality.

If you have any questions or concerns linked to you child's attendance, please come into school and speak to a member of staff.

Mrs. Hargreaves is always very willing to give advice, help and support.

During the last academic year (2016-2017), there were 38 children who achieved 100% attendance.  This was an increase 72% on the previous year.  To celebrate this fantastic achievement there was a special whole school assembly which parents and carers were invited to attend. Parents recieved flowers as a thank you from the school, and all children received a prize tthat they could play with over the summer holidays.

As a school we would like to thank all of our parents and carers for their continued support with ensuring their children attend school each and every day.

Watch this space for new exciting things linked to attendance happening in 2018!
