Young Interpreters
Young Interpreters at Beechwood is aimed at helping new EAL pupils and their families settle into the school community. Selected children from year 3-6 recieve training in ways to communicate and help EAL children in every day school life such as:
- ensuring they have someone to play with
- introducing them to their peers
- assisting in class activities where needed
They can also assist adults in school by showing new parents around, alongside an adult member of school staff and helping explain school routines.
We are in the process of recruiting more Young Interpreters. They will be nominated by their class teachers and participate in 6 weeks of training.
Names to be released soon so watch this space!
