Spelling Shed
Children in Years 3 to 6 all have access to Spelling Shed in school and at home.
Children in Year 2 currently use ELS Essential Spelling programme in school only.
Children in Year 2-6 practise a new spelling rule each week and will be tested once a week. On this page you will also find the spelling patterns and words set by the National Curriculum for each year group. You might hear children talking about 'common exception words'. These are words that don't fit a common spelling pattern or rule - they must be learnt by heart.
In Years 3-6 as an incentive for learning spellings at home and logging onto Spelling Shed, an extra 10 minutes playground is awarded to a class each week in Mrs Harper's assembly. Many classes give out their own prizes for top spellers!
